Four Chambers—an independent community literary magazine and small press based in Phoenix, AZ—will be featuring Jia Oak Baker at Limited Engagement Third Friday, June 19th at 7 pm in REMOD at the HUB (4610 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013).
Jia Oak Baker is the author of the chapbooks Crash Landing in the Plaza of an Unknown City (Dancing Girl Press) and Well Enough to Travel (Five Oaks Press). She earned a MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and a M.Ed. from Arizona State University. Jia is a recipient of a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and served as a literary teaching artist for the city of Phoenix. She was awarded residencies from the Wurlitzer Foundation and Hedgebrook as well as scholarships to the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and the New York State Summer Writers’ Institute.
Opening for Jia will be local singer / songwriter Laura Lavy. Laurie Lavy is the co-owner of Paris Envy, a home interior and lighting business. It began as a brick and mortar shop on 7th Avenue’s Melrose Curve and now can be found online at parisenvy.com. Laurie is currently working on a collection of short stories and enjoys singing whenever the opportunity arises.
